What is Shiatsu?
The
Japanese word Shiatsu (指圧) is composed of two words:
"shi" meaning finger, and "atsu" meaning pressure.
This therapy uses pressure applied with thumbs,
fingers and palms to the same energy meridians as traditional Chinese
acupressure, with the additional incorporation
of stretching. It also adds
components such as rolling, brushing, vibrating, grasping and
in one particular technique developed by Suzuki Yamamoto, pressure is applied
with the feet on the person's back, legs and feet.
A special set up is required for the "foot" shiatsu,
so if this is what you want please be sure an let me know in advance!
