Risk factors include:

  • Recurring prostate infections
  • Not properly exercising the prostate
  • Rough anal sex
  • A history of venereal disease
  • Diets high in animal fat
  • High intake of milk, meat and/or coffee
  • Use of male hormones such as testosterone in the treatment of impotence
  • Vasectomy partial or full
  • Being over 50 years of age

Symptoms include a weak or interrupted urine flow, continuous pain in the lower back, pelvis and/or upper thighs. Rectal bleeding and pain in the rectal area should be checked by a physician immediately!
